A nice reward for Wim-Lex.
Great news for Willem-Alexander: the podcast in which he is central has won an award. The RadioRing for best podcast was awarded yesterday to the makers of Through the Eyes of the King.
10 years as king
Over the past year we got to know the king a little better through a set of episodes of the podcast Through the eyes of the King. In ten parts, our Wim-Lex spoke with radio maker Edwin Evers about his past ten years as king, with each episode focusing on a different year – from 2013 to now and a little beyond.
The heavier topics were also not avoided. For example, Willem-Alexander talked about the loss of his brother, and he again went through the dust about that particularly poorly planned outing to Greece while everyone was confined to home during the corona period. And with success: in August, the Government Information Service announced that the podcast had been listened to more than 2.6 million times.
Pride
Now the king is being rewarded again for his efforts for the podcast. During the Golden RadioRing Gala in Hilversum yesterday, the coveted RadioRing was presented to the makers. Titus van Dijk, founder of media company Tonny Media, was one of them, and explains how proud he is of the prize. “It means more than I thought, we are actually very proud of it,” says Van Dijk. “I think that with Tonny we have always tried to be at the forefront of making podcasts as fun as possible for the whole of the Netherlands.”
And the king himself? He was not at the ceremony, but according to Van Dijk he knows that he has been nominated. “I know that he is secretly proud of the end result and certainly that it will be rewarded with such a nice prize.” Rightly so. We hope that Wim-Lex will celebrate within the palace walls with a glass of bubbles!
