Outerbanks fans rejoice! Netflix has announced that we can sit down for a new season of the hit series this fall. Here’s everything we know about the new season.
Season four of Outer Banks
On August 15, Netflix made fans of the series Outer Banks very happy. On that day, the streaming service dropped a teaser trailer for the new season of the series. In the teaser, the cast can be seen in a commercial for Kildare County Surf Shop. At the end of the commercial, it was announced that a new season of Outerbanks will be released in the fall of this year. An exact date has not yet been given.
The announcement of the new season’s release comes just over a year after the cast last Instagrammed a post in which they informed fans that they had wrapped filming for the newest season. “Alright, guys, we have officially wrapped season 4 of Outer Banks,” actor Chase Stokes says in the video.

What will the new season be about?
In the Season 3 finale, the Pogues returned to Kildare County as heroes, marking an 18-month time jump for the show. Things are starting to feel a little too normal for the group, but that doesn’t last long. The Pogues have uncovered their next mystery: the pirate Blackbeard. “Blackbeard is part of Outer Banks lore, and so there’s just a lot of stuff we can work with out of that. It is going to be a part of it, but it’s not going to be a traditional Blackbeard-type tale, although we’re using elements of the mythology going forward,” co-creator Josh Pat told The Hollywood Reporter after the end of Season 3. “And as far as the time jump, we felt like we needed to get them out of school. The actors are a little older, and it was harder to keep them in high school. We just wanted to move them into a new phase in their lives and move them forward a little bit. The epilogue at the end of [episode] 10 was to set up those two things that we knew we wanted to do going forward.”
Further specific details about the fourth season’s storyline have not yet been revealed. The showrunners initially planned to wrap up the series after five seasons. But now that the series has been renewed, they can think bigger. “In season 17, we’ll be on Mars,” Jonas Pate joked. So who knows, maybe we’ll be able to enjoy this series for much longer.
