Do you still recognize them?
We can all still sing along to the Kus songs from beginning to end – from Lekker Ding to Topje Van M’n Zus and of course Kus Gaat Los… but after the group’s farewell in 2011, the members have gone through life relatively anonymously. How are the former members of the group doing now? We’ve figured it out!
Girl group
Children For Children already sang it in 1984: what could be more beautiful than singing in a girl group? After a set of auditions for producers Jochem Fluitsma and Eric van Tijn, who we of course also know from Idols and X Factor, Monique de Waal, Anouk van Schie, Meike Hurts, and Fleur Minjon were selected as new members for the upcoming girl group.
From that moment on things go fast. Their debut song, Lekker Ding, immediately topped the charts, and in no time the group was on stage in a sold-out Ahoy. Fleur shared: “Every girl might want to experience that, but it was quite stressful and tough.”
After a whirlwind of success, the group suddenly disappears from the spotlight. At the beginning of 2010 it turned out that Fleur had left the group, after which Monique, Anouk and Meike gave it a chance, the three of them. The group finally said goodbye in 2011. But how are Fleur, Anouk, Monique and Meike doing?
Fleur Minjon
The fact that Fleur was the first to leave the group was not because she no longer felt like it. She told Linda: “At one point my hair fell out, I gained weight and was very tired. The consequences of an underactive thyroid gland. I chose my health. So it was more of a physical thing than me thinking: this is not what I want.”

After her departure from the group, she worked for a while as a guest presenter of Zapplive, and she contributed, among other things, to Yolanthe Cabau’s marketing of Kasbergen’s jewelry collection. Nowadays Fleur is active as a Children’s Sleep Coach and has two beautiful daughters: Olivia and Rose.
Monique de Waal
After Kus ceased to exist, Monique focused on a new musical project called Starz. She told Moms and the City about this: “I really wanted to make songs, sing and perform for children. So I came up with Starz, also a girl group for children.”
Monique now works as a logistics manager and runs her own dance school. In addition, just like Fleur, she is the mother of two girls. Monique regularly shares cheerful dance videos with her offspring via social media.

Meike Hurts
Nowadays Meike goes by the stage name Micky Hurts and is making waves as a DJ! The musician regularly shares images of her performances on Instagram. The hard house beats of the DJ are slightly different from Topje Van M’n Zus.

But what has remained the same? Hurts himself is still dancing on stage. “Say Micky…do you ever stand still?” a follower jokingly responds to one of her videos. Before she started as a DJ, Meike was briefly in a singing duo under the name Mash!. The second half of this duo? That was none other than…
Anouk van Schie
Correct! Kus colleague Anouk gave her singing career a second chance after parting with Kus, together with Meike. However, they were unable to match Kus’s success. Yet Anouk is still a well-known face: over the years she has presented various programs on RTL 4 and SBS 6. She has now stopped doing that, but she has not completely disappeared from the spotlight.
Anouk has been together with Johnny de Mol since 2016! The couple tied the knot in 2018, and since then we have regularly seen Anouk appear on the red carpet next to her husband. Together the two now have two sons, and so their family happiness is complete.
In short: those girls from Kus have completely landed on their feet. Secretly, of course, we continue to hope for a reunion tour. For our offspring, of course.
