A wonderful achievement by the queen.
We know Margrethe as a queen (as we still call her) with many talents, one of which is designing costumes. She has now also received national recognition for this, because last Saturday she was presented with the Robert Award, the Danish equivalent of the American Oscar.
In action for Netflix
Margrethe is a gentleman with an unmistakable feeling for everything that has to do with art and culture. Painting, writing, philosophizing and designing: the queen does it all, and also keeps up with the times. For example, she recently used her creative skills for Netflix.
Margrethe has made her royal contribution to the romantic comedy Ehrengard: The Art of Seduction, which was released on Netflix last year in September. The film centers on the fictional kingdom of Babenhausen, where a self-proclaimed love expert, Mr. Cazotte, the naive son of the Grand Duchess, must learn the tricks of the trade of seduction. After all, there must be an heir – but Crown Prince Lothar is definitely not looking for a marriage.
This premise naturally leads to a lot of hassle – with an illegitimate child, a stormy love affair for Cazotte himself, and the necessary blunders. And all this against a fairytale background, with opulent costumes and beautiful sets – and let that be Margrethe’s work!
Robert Award
That the queen put a lot of effort into the film was evident last Saturday evening, when she won the coveted Robert Award. On the official Instagram page of the Danish royal family we see a snapshot of a proud Margrethe. In the caption she reacts to winning the prize.

“I am deeply grateful, moved and proud of the recognition given by the Robert Award,” the Queen said.
“It was a great pleasure and pleasure to contribute to the expression of the film. “I would like to thank the entire team behind the film, but especially everyone who turned my ideas, sketches and drawings into reality – not least the talented people who sewed the many costumes,” her modest statement read.
