Joost is currently busy preparing for the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. And amid these hectic preparations, he took a moment to share his feelings via his Instagram Stories. Not in an ordinary message, but in a personal message addressed to his beloved, deceased parents.
Message to his parents
In the message, Joost greeted his parents in an emotional way and shared his feelings about his upcoming performance at the Eurovision Song Contest. He also expressed hope that his song Europapa could provide comfort to others who have experienced similar losses. “Hello mom and dad,” Joost begins his message. ‘I am now in Malmö for the Eurovision Song Contest. It feels very surreal. I think about you a lot,” the singer wrote.

Loss of parents
Klein lost his father when he was twelve to cancer, followed by the loss of his mother to cardiac arrest. These difficult experiences inspired him to write his song Europapa, in which he expresses his feelings of loss and hope.
Pride
Joost previously shared in an interview that he hoped his parents would have been proud of him. He remembered his mother as someone who would have been quietly proud, while his father would have joked about his outfit, but always with kindness.
Rehearsals
Although rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest are taking place behind closed doors, fans can look forward to the dress rehearsal on May 8, where footage of Joost’s performance will be released by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). With great expectations for his performance on May 9, we wish Joost good luck during the Eurovision Song Contest.
