Whoop whoop, it’s that time again! The annual FHM500 has been announced and guess who walked away with the top prize? None other than Gwen van Poorten, who has been crowned the absolute most beautiful woman in the Netherlands by men’s platform FHM. You go, girl!
Gwen van Poorten as the most beautiful woman in the Netherlands
The awards ceremony took place last night at The Harbor Club Theater in Amsterdam and Gwen van Poorten was over the moon with her new title. “I think it is a great honor to be voted Most Beautiful Woman in the Netherlands,” said the new winner. She admitted that she found it difficult to remain modest, because let’s face it, you’re not suddenly going to call yourself the hottest. But Gwen knows: “The most important thing here is of course that you also find yourself beautiful.”
Romy Monteiro passes the baton to Gwen van Poorten
Last year it was Romy Monteiro who won the coveted title, but this year she has to settle for a spot at number 8. No problem though, because Gwen is a worthy successor. At number 2 we find the model Imaan Hammam and the top 3 is completed by none other than Sylvie Meis.

Sylvie Meis: Queen of the Century
But wait a minute, Sylvie didn’t go home empty-handed! She received the prestigious lifetime achievement award, also known as the Queen of the Century Award. And rightly so, because Sylvie has been a regular face in the FHM500 for years. “I have always had fond memories of FHM,” she said. “They put me on the map at the time and that accelerated my career.”
Other winners
In addition to Gwen and Sylvie, a number of other power women won prizes. For example, Lieke Klaver won the prize for Most Beautiful Sportswoman in the Netherlands. Model Amaka Enem took home the Social Media Queen Award. And the men were not forgotten either, because actor Frank Lammers received the TABAC Ghent of the Year Award.
Record number of votes
According to FHM, no fewer than six million votes were cast this year. That’s a record number! Editor-in-chief Chris Riemens is very proud: “FHM has been empowering women for almost 25 years. The FHM500 is an ode to the beauty of women, where not only looks, but also personality and performance count.” Amen to that!
