The researchers concluded that taking supplements with green tea extracts can lead to weight loss ranging from 200 grams to 3.5 kilos.

But although the research shows positive results, a ‘normal’ cup of green tea does not contain nearly enough catechins to actually lose weight. Unfortunately! This amount is so minimal that you would have to drink between fifteen and twenty cups per day to notice a difference. And that is unhealthy, because the Nutrition Center advises not to drink more than three cups per day. Green tea contains significant amounts of theine, which can disrupt your sleep. In addition, excessive amounts of catechins and antioxidants can actually have negative effects.

Fortunately, green tea does offer a number of other health benefits. Regular consumption of green tea, with the right amount of catechins and antioxidants, can help lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, and protect against diabetes and brain disorders.
But drinking a few cups of green tea a day will not in itself lead to weight loss. You can of course drink green tea instead of sugary drinks, this can certainly help you lose some weight.
