“It manifested itself in me that I really didn’t know how to relax anymore.”
Things didn’t go well for Claudia de Breij last year. That meant she spent 10 months at home, she said yesterday in De Avondshow with Arjen Lubach.
Learn to relax
The comedian says that last year she didn’t know how to relax for a long time. “I can’t call it a burnout, but I was really completely out of it for a while,” she said. Last year she said she needed ‘time and rest’ and this was followed by a long period of silence around the theater star.
All time low
“It manifested itself in me that I really didn’t know how to relax anymore.” She bought them, among other things, a box of LEGO for adults, but that became “a low point,” she said. “I didn’t like it at all. I don’t want to offend anyone who likes LEGOs, but I was busy and did a lot of things wrong, so I also had to ask my children where things went wrong.”
Kittens
However, her kittens have helped her relax. “I didn’t know I loved it so much. “I’m not an animal lover at all,” she continues. She purchased the animals after she saw Taylor Swift with her cats on the cover of Time Magazine. “I thought: those are nice!”
New inspiration
After about ten months of rest, Claudia is back with a vengeance and has new inspiration for her shows. “I really realized that there is a big difference between being liked and being nice. And that the first doesn’t matter at all and the second matters very much. You have to be 48 for that! Stupid right?”
The “little midlife”, in her own words, has ensured that she now appears on stage very differently than before. “I was unnecessarily insecure.”
