Be inspired by the freedom of Marseille!
Spring is in full swing, and that means it’s high time for Chanel’s stylish Cruise collection! This time, Creative Director Virginie Viard takes us to beautiful Marseille, where French freedom and coastal entertainment reign supreme.
Chanel Cruise 2024/25
In Marseille, sun, architecture, music and dance come together. This city has inspired designer Virginie to alternate the classic silhouettes and tweed items that we are used to from Chanel with swimwear, soft jersey items, and cool looks made of denim and leather.
All this has a summer deep sea theme. From embroidered fish motifs to shells and fishing nets: life underwater proves to be an endless source of inspiration.
Freedom
Virginie herself said about this collection: “The sun, architecture, music and dance: Marseille also has a very strong sense of freedom. I was inspired by the codes of lifestyle, everyday life, and by all things that invite movement. The sea and the wind made me want to play with wetsuits.”
“Marseille is a city that puts me in touch with my emotions. I have tried to capture its appeal, its fresh air and convey the energy that prevails here. You can’t ask for a better backdrop for a runway show than the Cité Radieuse,” she concludes.
On top of the roof of this imposing piece of Marseille architecture, models walked the catwalk, where they showed the latest Cruise collection to the gathered public. Here they could enjoy colorful geometric motifs, endless layers, and a modern Chanel twist on classics such as peacoats and blazers.
Details
The collection also contained some beautiful nods to the influences of founder Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel. Naturally, there were plenty of pearl accessories on display, and the patent leather footwear was an ode to the influence of men’s fashion on Chanel’s rich history.
In short: whether you are looking for a real Chanel classic for your wardrobe, or a swimsuit inspired by the Mediterranean, this collection has something for everyone!
