Carlo Boszhard responds to MAFS criticism and makes an unexpected revelation

Although we didn’t see it coming, Married at First Sight only produced one match this season. The program has received a lot of criticism in recent times, even going so far that the experts felt compelled to speak out about the entire matchmaking process. Today Carlo Boszhard again shares his view of the program.

All tied up

There’s a lot going on behind the scenes of Married at First Sight right now. The experts are in conflict with the makers of the program. For example, the experts released the news that the makers actually have a very big role in making the matches. With this, the experts suggest that the matches are not based on real scientific facts at all, but purely for sensationalism on television. The producer of the program in turn claims the opposite. So it almost seems like a soap opera behind the scenes…

Internet clicks

With expert Patrick van Veen’s doubts about a next season of Married at First Sight if no changes take place, Carlo also feels called to express his opinion. In his recent column for Televizier, the presenter speaks out about the issue. He emphasizes that criticism of the program is simply part of the game. “MAFS simply involves emotion, and therefore inevitably internet clicks.”

‘Not true’

“To immediately remove all noise: they determine who is matched, not the program makers,” Carlo says. “There can of course be friction about how and what in this process, but I have great faith that we can resolve this together. But the fact that someone is cast because it produces spectacular television is certainly not true.”

Feeling for television

Carlo reveals in his column that he was present at the test days of Married at First Sight during previous seasons. He says that on such a day it quickly becomes clear which participants do well in front of the camera and which do not. Yet he assures that these people were only chosen if a match had really been found for them. Although there have been seasons with many divorces, love has also been found regularly. Carlo says: “Of course things can and should be better and that is why I hope for a reliable new method of attraction. That will not immediately bring us love, of course, but perhaps more passion.”

New season of Married at First Sight

With all the attention Married at First Sight is getting right now, you might be wondering: is this the end of the show? Well, no. Carlo shares that a new season is just around the corner. We will have to wait and see whether Patrick will be back in the party. Let’s hope that the makers and experts can reach a compromise, because we of course hope for even more success stories like those of Jeppe and Jantine.
