Time for a security upgrade!
It must have been quite a shock for King Charles: on Tuesday evening his peace was rudely disturbed by an intruder who managed to enter the private garden of Windsor Castle. According to The Sun, the unwanted guest was immediately arrested.
Snooping intruder
Breaking into one of the British royal castles? You would think that the strict security would make this impossible, but nothing could be further from the truth. On Tuesday evening, a man turned up in the garden of Windsor Castle who – to say the least – did not belong there. After briefly sniffing around there, the intruder was arrested.
Harmless
It turned out to be a 39-year-old man. It is unclear why this gentleman decided to visit Charles, who was staying in the castle at the time. However, The Sun reports that it appears that the intruder did not mean any harm, because there was no weapon to be seen anywhere. “It is clear that the king was in his home at the time of the burglary, but that he was not in any danger,” said an insider. Anyway: it remains creepy, of course.
Crossbow threat
Although the situation seemed quite innocent this time, it is somewhat reminiscent of that day on December 25, 2021. A man managed to enter the grounds of Windsor Castle armed with a crossbow. “I’m here to kill the queen,” he allegedly said. The man wanted to take revenge on the established order with his action. A police officer who was present at the time said in court that he looked like he had walked out of a movie.
Fortunately, things ended well for the late Queen Elizabeth and the other British royals at the time, but the incident still raised some eyebrows. Because you would say that no one in the world is better protected than the Queen of England. After this event, security would have been significantly increased, but with this new intruder it might be an idea to take a second look…
