7X foods you can freeze (but wouldn’t expect to)

By freezing leftover food you prevent waste. You can also freeze these foods, although you may never have thought of doing so.

1. Wine

Attention wine lovers! You can easily freeze wine. Wine cubes are perfect for cheese fondue, sauces and soups: all you have to do is throw a cube into the pan! In addition, many people think it is a sin to put cubes of ice in wine, because the wine is then diluted with water. By adding cubes of frozen wine to your glass, your wine will still be nice and cold, but without diluting it. Plus, you can secretly have some extra sips after defrosting. Win win!

2. Cheese

Is it old or hard cheese that you want to use later for cooking? Then put the cheese in the freezer! The cheese can change its structure due to crystallization, so a block of cheese straight out of the box will no longer be very tasty. But you can’t go wrong using frozen cheese in cheese fondue or lasagna.

3 eggs

Chicken eggs can easily be stored in the refrigerator. Beat the raw eggs in advance and then pour the mixture into a bowl or ice cube tray. Do not leave the eggs in their shells, as there is a risk of cracked eggs. And no one wants to scrape frozen raw egg out of the freezer.

4. Chips

This may sound very strange, but you can simply freeze sealed bags of chips. Has the bag been opened yet? Then you can put the remaining chips in a bag with foil around it. By putting the chips in the freezer they retain their crispiness and the chips do not become soft.

5. Meats

Meat products can be put straight into the refrigerator in unopened packages. Once opened you can freeze them in a freezer bag. This means you can store the meat for up to two months, but after that you really have to eat it.

6. Avocados

Ripe avocados can also be frozen. First peel the avocado, add a few drops of lemon juice and crush the avocado into a mash. Put it in a bag and put it in the freezer. Use whenever you feel like toast with avocado or as guacamole with your chips or nachos.

7. Chocolate

It may not happen often that you have leftover chocolate, but in case you have a large block lying around: freeze that piece! If you take it out of the freezer later, put it in the refrigerator for a while before eating it.
