Custom couture for mother and daughter: this is how we know the Grimaldi’s again.
Yesterday was the big moment for the Monegasques: they celebrated their national holiday! With a lot of fanfare, a lot of designer outfits, and a lot of sweet moments between Prince Albert, Princess Charlene, and twins Gabriella and Jacques.
Fête Nationale
While in the Netherlands we are currently experiencing thick cloud cover and seemingly endless rain, it is still pleasant late summer weather in Monaco. And that meant that the Grimaldis could enjoy the festivities surrounding their Fête Nationale yesterday with the sun on their faces.

Such a national holiday does not involve cookie-cutting or tug-of-war, but a solemn service in the local cathedral. Here we saw Albert and Charlene happily leaving the church together, arm in arm. Charlene was also clearly inspired by the red color of the Monegasque flag, because she showed up in a strong example of tone on tone. The Parisian couture label DidierAngelo announced via Instagram that it is responsible for this beautiful lady in red outfit. She paired her custom-made gown and coat with a set of knee-high Manolo Blahnik boots and a subtle set of jewelry.
But what made this outfit extra fun? That was the fact that little Gabriella wore a matching one in dark blue!

Custom couture for your eight-year-old daughter: this is how we get to know the princely family again. As if that wasn’t enough, the young princess wore a set of Louboutin shoes. We are actually only missing that Dior handbag that Gabriella appeared with before!
Waving those hands
In addition to a church service, a holiday also includes a lot of friendly waving from the palace windows, with almost all Grimaldi’s making an appearance.
Of course Albert and Charlene emerged happily waving…

…Twins Jacques and Gabriella watched patiently…

…Princess Caroline showed herself side by side with her offspring and grandchildren – of course in Chanel, just like daughter Charlotte…

…Is the sun becoming just a little too bright for son Andrea Casiraghi…

…and we spotted this sweet moment between Princess Stéphanie and daughter Pauline at a window further away!

It is clear that the princely family is having a good time with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with such a holiday.
Gala
The day was not over yet with a mass, a parade, and a lot of waving from the palace. There was a big gala planned for the evening!

Here Caroline appeared in (you guessed it) Chanel, daughter Alexandra wore an outfit from Céline just like during the day, and Charlene appeared again in a red outfit from the Parisian couture house DidierAngelo.

The duo behind the Parisian label reports via Instagram that this dress has once again been custom-made for Her Serene Highness, and is hand-embroidered with endless glass beads. You read that right: this is not a metallic fabric, but a dress adorned with tiny glass beads from head to toe. This close-up of the princess shows exactly how many beads there are:

That must have taken a lot of hours! Anyway: then you have the Princess of Monaco who personally walks the red carpet in your design during the biggest holiday in Monaco. And that’s worth a lot, nun?
