Great sadness for Joseph “Amp” Fiddler. The American started studying music when he was just 16 years old. The keyboardist was part of various groups – he became particularly well known with Enchantment and with George Clinton’s ensemble Parliament-Funkadelic. He worked, among others, with artists such as Prince (✝57), Seal (60) or Primal Scream together. In 2021 he released another album, but it was his last: amp is dead.
This emerges from a statement on his Instagram account. It reads: “Our beloved ‘Amp’ Fiddler, Detroit’s world-renowned ambassador of funk, soul and electronic music, keyboardist, producer, Afro-futurist and guiding light to so many, has passed away at the age of 65.” He had cancer and had fought it for a long time.
Tombi Stewart, who wrote the statement, emphasized that it was impossible Amps To put his work into words: “His life’s work, his legacy and above all his love will far exceed his earthly presence.” He feels blessed to have had him in his life.
