Say what?! Ali B poses with fans during Boef concert

Ali B was sentenced to two years in prison last summer, but decided to appeal. The Public Prosecution Service also did not sit idle and asked for a review of the case. Ali B is currently walking around freely, but that does not mean that the legal battle is over.

Ali B takes a picture with fans

In the meantime, the rapper has enjoyed a nice holiday in Morocco with his family. As if that wasn’t enough, he was spotted last Saturday evening during a concert by rapper Boef in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. But it gets even crazier: he decided to cheerfully take a photo with fans during the concert. Say what?!

Mixed reactions

In a video that is now going viral on social media, we see Ali posing with fans during Boef’s concert. He stands among the audience and is asked by several people for a photo. Ali takes his time to pose and has the photos taken. But the reactions under the video are quite mixed and are causing a lot of fuss. “How can he walk around so cheerfully and take pictures with fans, when he has just been convicted? I don’t understand it,” someone wrote.

Appeal

After his conviction, both Ali B and the Public Prosecution Service filed an appeal. Bart Swier, the rapper’s lawyer, says that the rapper is “convinced of his innocence” and that he really feels “disbelief” and “deep disappointment” after the verdict. He hopes that the appeal will lead to an acquittal. The Public Prosecution Service has also had its say. They praised the victims for their courage in sharing their stories, despite all the media attention. “It is extremely important that victims of sexual abuse report it and that they continue to do so in the future,” the Public Prosecution Service said.

The conviction: what exactly happened?

Just a quick recap: the rapper was sentenced to two years in prison for rape and attempted rape. He was acquitted in the case of singer Ellen ten Damme, but was found guilty of attempted rape. He was acquitted of two other assaults. The Voice finalist Jill Helena also accuses him of sexual assault. The court found her story credible, but could not substantiate it. The Public Prosecution Service now sees enough grounds to appeal again, just like with the other acquittals.
