Eva Hermans-Koot, known from Over Mijn Lijk, once again shares an update about her health. In August she received the tough news that her treatment had finished, but now there is unexpectedly a small bright spot on the horizon!
Good result
On Friday morning, Eva had to get out of bed early again for a CT and MRI scan. Exciting, because you never know what will come of it. But now she has received the results and on Instagram she shares “pretty good news”. She really hadn’t expected that herself, because she had actually already prepared herself for the worst.
Osimertinib does a good job
It seems that Eva is responding well again to the osimertinib pills, which ensure that the cancer cells do not grow like crazy. In most places the tumors have even shrunk somewhat or at least remained stable. Only a spot has grown on her lung lining, which can sometimes cause pain and breathing problems. If that gets too bad, it can still be irradiated, so that is a small advantage.
Fingers crossed for good MRI results
Fortunately, nothing strange was visible on the MRI scan, but this still needs to be confirmed by a neurologist. So we have to be patient for a few more days until Eva gets the official results. In any case, her doctor said, “I’m not dissatisfied with it.” Well, then neither is Eva! “I also said that I could see myself turning 27. He did not give a clear answer to whether that is at all feasible. But yes, you have to keep hope, I think.” Eva is happy that the osimertinib pills still keep her cancer under control, because there are now no other treatment options. She hopes it stays that way for a long time. And we hope with her!
