What is a working language?
A work language is, in short, the way you work best. What do you like, what do you tend towards and what do you feel positive about? Your work language is easy to determine. You find it by focusing on what you respond positively to at work. Also useful if you have an annoying colleague, but you don’t know exactly why…
The five work languages are: Achievement, Recognition, Growth, Collaboration and Freedom. Read on for an explanation!
Performance
People who have Performance as their working language are real go-getters and want to see good results. If performance is your working language, you will be happiest when you achieve a goal. Whether it is big or small. These people also have a real loving feeling for the company they work for and they do not shy away from a challenge.
Recognition
People with the work language Recognition feel best when they receive praise or public credits for their work. When they have done something good, they like to receive a pat on the back. For these people, gratitude for their good work is a motivator to do even better.
Grow
People whose working language is Growth strive to become better and better at what they do. They are true career tigers who want to climb higher and higher on the corporate ladder. They will do everything to become the best and are always the first to register for skills training, workshops and training programs.
Cooperation
That one colleague who loves scheduling meetings probably has Collaboration as their working language. These people thrive on brainstorming and sparring with other colleagues. You can also always count on these types of people when you are working on a big project.
Freedom
Opposite to the Cooperation person, you also have Freedom as a working language. These people like to work alone and feel best doing so. It does not mean that they do not accept help from others, but rather try or do it themselves first. They find social obligations at the office horrible. This also significantly reduces their productivity.
