Queen Máxima was clearly brimming with pride!
It is a regular occurrence for the big winners of the Olympic Games: in addition to such a beautiful plaque to hang above your bed, you are also invited to the palace, to celebrate your success with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. Today there was another such festive event on the program!
Olympians and Oranges
It is clear that we can be proud of our Olympians. With a record number of medals and an impressive sixth place in that well-known ‘medal table’, there was definitely reason for jubilation among the athletes.
Today the team was first honored in our capital and then a reception was scheduled with none other than Willem-Alexander and Máxima. That is of course an extra beautiful crown on your already fantastic performance, isn’t it?
Medal winners
The reception at Huis ten Bosch Palace was of course accompanied by a few photos on the steps, and it is clear that our queen was also in a festive mood.
Smiling pleasantly? No, cheering!
For the occasion, Máx wore a businesslike, soft-grey dress with a chic red belt and matching pumps. Classic, and of course it goes perfectly with all those gold medals around her, no? Moreover, we think Wim-Lex’s subtle orange tie is a nice detail. A real fashion king, that prince of ours!
Olympic Games
It is of course common knowledge that our Oranjes are very involved in the Olympic Games. Not only is the royal couple a big fan of visiting sporting events, daughters Amalia and Alexia also enjoyed themselves in the stands the past few weeks.
It turned out that Amalia even stayed in Paris solo for a few days, where she watched a horse jumping competition, among other things. She was also spotted at the finals of the 3×3 basketball, next to good friend and former host, King Felipe.
In short: the Oranges will undoubtedly be extremely proud of all the athletes – it was more than worth interrupting the summer holidays!
