While the younger generations of today like to be scared and horrified by the latest Hollywood thrillers, we of course know that one of the most exciting films of all time comes from our own country. We are of course talking about Amsterdamned, by director Dick Maas. And this classic will soon be getting a sequel, with a leading role for none other than Holly Mae Brood!
Starring Holly
Holly Mae Brood can be seen in the romcom The Break-Up Club from September, but next year we can also see her in a completely different genre. Because yes, Holly has the female lead in Amsterdamned II!
Producer 2CFILM shares that she will play the role of Tara Lee: a young, ambitious detective with the Amsterdam police. When she is confronted with terrible incidents around the canals, she calls in the help of retired detective Eric Visser (again played by Huub Stapel).
Perfect for the role
Director Dick Maas told ANP that he had Holly in mind for the role from the very first script version. “She has a rare star quality, in my opinion she is following in the footsteps of big names like Monique van de Ven. And she can also handle the role physically.”
Classic Amsterdamned
In 1988, Dick Maas released Amsterdamned. In the film, a psychopathic murderer is active around the Amsterdam canals. Huub Stapel, in the role of detective Erik, had to stop this serial killer. Monique van de Ven took on the female lead at the time. Although Huub returns in the sequel to Amsterdamned, Monique is not seen in the second part.
If you want to get your popcorn ready right away: unfortunately we’ll have to be patient for a little while longer until it’s ready. Filming will start this fall and the film is scheduled to hit the big screen in 2025. This coincides with the 750th anniversary of our capital. We can’t wait!
