According to American research, there are several factors that ensure that your life can last longer. They may be obvious, but they are still very important to learn. You must remember these eight factors to have a longer and more enjoyable life:

  • Dealing with positive people who make you feel good
  • A healthy diet
  • Do not smoke
  • Stay physically active
  • Do not drink alcohol regularly
  • Dealing well with stress
  • Not having an addiction to painkillers
  • Good sleep hygiene

According to the researchers, if you implement these factors into your life, you can live up to twenty-four years longer. But even using just one or a few of these factors can make a difference. Per adopted habit, your life expectancy is already four years higher than someone who has none of these factors in his or her life.

Quit smoking

An important factor is to stop smoking, and not to reduce it as with some other points. If you think that quitting smoking later in life is pointless, you are wrong: after about a day, changes are already noticeable, such as your blood pressure and heart rate dropping. The addictive substance nicotine is also out of your blood after two days, and your senses improve slightly. For example, you can smell and taste more, and your taste can also change in a positive way. You can also live five to ten years longer when you stop smoking. Smoking is therefore the most important factor in having a longer and more enjoyable life.

The right age

If you think that you are already too old to make a difference, then you are wrong: the researchers show that even people over the age of sixty can make a difference in their lifestyle and will therefore live longer. It is of course better to start these habits as early as possible for optimal results, but every little bit helps to create a healthier lifestyle. These habits are also achievable at any age, so you don’t have to worry about being too young or too old. Just do what feels right, because it can certainly turn out well!
