Forward helix piercing: everything you want to know about it

Do you already know the forward helix piercing? A stylish piece of jewelry that certainly attracts attention. Whether you already have your entire ear covered in decorations or you want to get your very first piercing, you don’t want to miss the forward helix. Read on and find out why this piercing is so popular.

Everything you want to know about the forward helix piercing

As the name suggests, the forward helix piercing is located in the front part of your ear, just above your tragus, where your ear connects to your head. This spot offers a subtle but stylish look and is easy to combine with other piercings. Whether you go for a single, double or even a three-bubble helix, you can make it as crazy as you want. Do you dare to step out of your comfort zone?

The procedure

The forward helix piercing is similar to other ear piercings. Only this piercing is in the cartilage and therefore it can hurt a little more. Fortunately, this is only short-lived. The piercer uses a needle to make the hole and then places the jewelry of your choice. Think of studs, rings or small gems. It just depends on what you prefer.

Healing and aftercare

Aftercare is really crucial to prevent infections and of course to ensure that your piercing heals properly. The healing process takes an average of three to six months. For a smooth healing you can do the following things:

  1. Clean daily: Use saline solution or a special piercing cleaner to keep your piercing clean.
  2. Avoid touching: As tempting as it is to touch your new piercing, try to avoid it so as not to introduce bacteria.
  3. Be careful with hair: Be careful with your hairbrush and hair products. An accident is often just around the corner. You don’t want to cause unnecessary irritation.

How do you clean it?

It is best to clean your piercing with Unicura soap. First wash your hands thoroughly and then run the soap over the area. Make sure you rinse away the soapy water. You can also soak the piercing in a salt bath for fifteen minutes every day. If you are dealing with body fluids, it is better to remove the dirt with a cotton swab once a week.

To twist or not to twist a piercing?

Sometimes it is recommended to twist a piercing while cleaning it. This way you ensure that the piercing does not grow stuck to your body. Yet this is not the intention. You always open the wound with this. The risk of inflammation is therefore greater. The saline solution alone does enough work.
