Perfectly cared for: this way you can let your hair shine even in the summer

Put your hair in the sun!

In the summer we exchange the nourishing facial cream for a more light version and your facial lotion for a foaming facial cleansing. Most of us use the same hair products over and over again. Is this not seasonal or should we treat our hair the same way we treat our skin? We give you the answer!

Hair routine

Our shampoo and conditioner routine forms the basis for healthy hair and a healthy scalp. The main reason we wash our hair with shampoo is to get dirt, impurities and other products out of our hair. Moisturizing conditioners provide hydration and soften the strands. But these are not the only reasons to use these products. Did you know that the products contain different amounts of minerals, amino acids and proteins? Our hair needs this to stay healthy and strong. With the right balance of ingredients, your hairstyle will last longer, your hair will be easier to work with and your scalp will be healthy.

Causes

Everyone has a different preference when it comes to products. Logical, because everyone’s hair and scalp is different. For oilier hair, use a different shampoo than for dry hair. But in addition to different needs per person, your hair sometimes also needs something different. When you change your hairstyle, when you dye or stop dyeing your hair and when you go through mental or hormonal changes, your hair may need a different shampoo.

For example, longer hair needs more moisture because the hair ages the longer it is and the more often it is cleaned. These strands have also been in the sun more often, which can make them drier. If you color your hair, this also means that the hair can use more moisture but also extra protein. Changes in our health can also affect our hair. This could be dry skin, a lack of protein due to a lack of nutrient absorption or an excessive production of oils.

Seasonal

Your hair’s needs are also seasonal. When there is more moisture in the air, you may need a stronger shampoo. This can also mean that the ratio between moisture and hydration is out of balance, meaning you need a conditioner that nourishes the hair more. To know what you can do best in the summer to make your locks shine, we have listed a few tips:

1. Replace your moisturizing shampoo with a cleansing shampoo

In the summer you swim more, sweat more and use more sunscreen. It is then important to clean your hair properly so that no excess oil remains in your hair.

2. Replace your moisturizing conditioner with a lighter conditioner

Due to the higher humidity, your hair may become heavier if you also use moisturizing products. When your hair becomes too heavy, it becomes more difficult to style. If your hair still needs some nourishment, you can use a hair mask once a month.

3. Base your choice in the summer on your hair type

In the summer, with higher humidity, curls often do well with products with a higher hold. Using stronger gels and fewer leave-in products will also keep your curls beautiful in the summer. Straight or fine hair is more sensitive to oiliness in the summer months. Salt sprays work especially well for these hair types.

With these tips you should also get through the summer with the perfect haircut!
