Everyone has an off day sometimes, that’s not surprising at all. Have you noticed that things are becoming a bit much for you lately? Then you may be in a period when you are not feeling well mentally. Your body tries to indicate this with different signals, but sometimes these signs are easily pushed aside. We have listed 5 signs that you are not feeling well mentally.
Signs that you are not feeling well
When you notice that you are not feeling well, you naturally try to do everything you can to feel optimal again. Feeling mentally unwell does not always have to be serious, but it is also not meant to simmer for months. It is therefore important to know what signals your body gives you when you are not feeling well mentally. Here they are.
1. You are always overwhelmed
Do you feel like everything, absolutely everything, is too much for you? Your to-do lists are overflowing, the shopping list is getting longer and you still have to text all your friends back. It seems like you can never rest and that makes you feel quite overwhelmed.
2. You sleep poorly
Another sign that you are not feeling well is having sleep problems. You have difficulty falling asleep, you toss and turn at night and wake up in the morning feeling restless. You feel like your brain is working overtime and nothing seems to be able to stop it.
3. You have a short fuse
Are you normally a relaxed person who actually thinks everything is fine, but do you now have the shortest fuse you’ve ever had? Then that could be a sign that you are not feeling well. Your body is probably frustrated with everything that’s going on, which makes you quick to snap at people (who aren’t actually doing anything wrong).
4. You forget a lot
Whether it’s appointments, birthdays or time, when you don’t feel mentally okay, you forget a lot of things. Your body and brain can no longer cope with it all, so you quickly forget unimportant, but also important things.
5. You don’t like things anymore
All those hobbies you had before, you no longer feel like doing. An evening out with friends no longer gives you any pleasure and you would also rather skip a date night with your lover. Things that you normally always loved are now on the back burner. Logical, because your head is completely overflowing.
Ask for help
Do you recognize yourself in the above points? Then don’t hesitate to ask for help. Whether it is with your girlfriend, mother or doctor. It’s okay to have to take a break and go back to basics. Your (mental) health always comes first. Take care!
