Alexia is wearing a Máxima dress today during her very first ship christening!
Trailing suction hopper dredger Vox Alexia is moored at the Wilhelminakade in Rotterdam for the christening. After the baptism, Princess Alexia will be given a tour of the ship and will speak with a number of employees, including crew members and members of the Young Van Oord association.
The trailing suction hopper dredger is a dredging vessel that can, for example, suck up sand, clay and sludge from the waterbed and deposit it at another location. The shallow design makes the ship particularly suitable for coastal protection projects. The Vox Alexia can sail on liquefied natural gas (LNG). This contributes to a lower CO2 footprint compared to conventional trailing suction hopper dredgers. After the baptism the ship will be deployed worldwide.
