Exciting: Princess Amalia will attend a state banquet for the first time

Little girls grow up!

Little girls grow up, and so does our own future queen Amalia. The Dutch princess will attend a state banquet for the first time ever. An important and honorable moment as the future Queen of the Netherlands.

State visit

A state visit by Spanish King Felipe and Queen Letizia is planned for Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 April. They are not only received by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, but also by Princess Amalia. Princess Amalia will participate in a state visit for the first time and will be present at a state banquet. An exciting moment for Amalia, but we are sure that this will turn out well.

State banquet

During the first day of a state visit, it is tradition for the host or hostess to organize a chic multi-course dinner on the first evening. The state banquet is held in honor of a state visit and is intended to strengthen ties between guests from different countries, promote diplomatic relations and discuss important topics.

Tiaras

A chic dinner naturally requires a chic outfit. The heads of state and guests are dressed in tailcoats or a long evening dress or gala dress with a matching tiara. We have only seen Princess Amalia with a diadem three times before, so we are already looking forward to next week’s photos where she will (hopefully) also be seen wearing a tiara.

Amalia made her first appearance wearing a tiara during Norwegian Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s birthday dinner. We had seen the star tiara that Amalia wore before, namely on the wedding day of Máx and Wim-Lex. Amalia wore the diamond wedding tiara in combination with a beautiful pink dress.

This was followed by the wedding reception of Crown Prince Al Hussein and Rajwa Al Saif, where Amalia appeared with a peacock tail diadem with rubies and a matching ruby red custom gown by Jan Taminiau. The last time we saw Amalia wearing a tiara was last October on the eighteenth birthday of Danish Crown Prince Christian. Amalia wore a beautiful, royal blue dress from Essentiel Antwerp and a beautiful tiara with sapphires that matched her dress. Until forty years ago, the stones from the tiara were part of a necklace that King William III gave to Emma as a wedding gift in 1879.

We have seen diamonds, rubies and sapphires before at Amalia. The editors are already speculating a lot about what Amalia will wear this time. Would she wear her favorite tiara, the Mellerio tiara with rubies, during the state visit? Or will she choose a tiara with other stones this time, such as the emerald parure? We can already see it in our minds: Amalia in a beautiful emerald green dress with the matching emerald parure.

Whatever Amalia wears, we’re sure our princess will look stunning – no matter how nervous she’ll undoubtedly be about this first!
