To be encouraged by Princess Margriet: we all want that, right?
Princess Margriet attended various training sessions of the Dutch paralympic team at the Papendal Sports Center in Arnhem on Tuesday, April 2. The athletes are training for the Paris Paralympic Games, which will take place this summer.
Back in time
In 1980, Princess Margriet was involved in the organization of the Paralympic Games in Arnhem as director of the Red Cross. On June 21, 1980, she opened the sixth edition of the event. Since then she has been a follower and lover of Paralympic sport. She is also a member of the honorary board of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
Visit to the Paralympic team
The Princess regularly visits the Paralympic Games on behalf of the Royal House. To stay informed and to speak to the athletes themselves, she visits regularly. Yesterday, the princess took a look at the training sessions for para-table tennis, para-athletics and wheelchair basketball. She also spoke with Esther Vergeer, the chef de mission of TeamNL, about the preparations for the Paralympic Summer Games in Paris.
Beautiful images
The Royal House shares a snapshot of that day on Instagram. The photo shows Princess Margriet talking to two athletes. The photo clearly shows that the princess is listening to the athletes with great interest. We admire Princess Margriet for her umpteenth visit to the Paralympic team!

Invictus Games
The royals are not only involved with Paralympic athletes in the Netherlands, they also follow our example abroad. For example, Prince Harry, of the British royal family, has been organizing the Invictus Games since 2014. Veterans who have been physically or psychologically injured in the military participate in these games.
Harry and Meghan have made a documentary about the Invictus Games in collaboration with Netflix, namely Heart of Invictus. In this documentary, Harry talks about his personal experiences in the army and about the purpose of the Invictus Games.
