Things haven’t been going well for Catherine lately.
Things have certainly not been going well for the Waleses in recent weeks. With a lot of rumors, a major Photoshop fail, and endless ridicule on social media, Prince William and Princess Kate haven’t had it easy. And now it looks like there’s yet another headache.
Data breach
The Mirror now reports that staff at The London Clinic, where Kate stayed earlier this year, attempted to gain access to her personal medical information. The newspaper states that ‘at least one staff member’ was caught trying to view the confidential information.
Hopital
The clinic’s management is said to have launched an investigation immediately after the revelation and informed Kensington Palace. An insider told the newspaper: “This is a massive security breach and incredibly damaging to the hospital given its impeccable reputation for treating members of the royal family.”
Over the years, the clinic has provided care to several royals and other prominent figures – in addition to Catherine, Charles also went here for his prostate treatment, and they have also treated other Windsors for all kinds of ailments, from Princess Margaret to Prince Edward, the Duke of Windsor. Prince Philip was also a patient of the prestigious clinic in 2013. We probably don’t have to explain that this violation of privacy will not bother them!
Research
The United Kingdom’s privacy watchdog has confirmed to The Mirror that they have indeed received a report of a data breach.
The newspaper has also contacted Kensington Palace, but for the time being they seem to be adhering to the motto never complain, never explain. “This is an issue for The London Clinic,” a spokesperson said.
The London Clinic also refuses to comment substantively on the case. “We strongly believe that all of our patients, regardless of status, deserve total privacy and confidentiality regarding their medical information,” they share.
Mystery
This breach of privacy is yet another in a series of painful blunders surrounding Princess Catherine’s medical leave. With her long absence, and silence from the court, the rumor mill is running at full speed about the reason for Kate’s operation and procedure.
Several sources have reported in recent weeks that Kate may want to reveal what’s going on after her return to the spotlight. Hopefully she will get the chance to do that on her own, without curious people leaking her information to the tabloids…
