5 Signs You’re More Stressed Than You Think

There are several techniques you can use to combat stress, but you must recognize the signs.

In these times it is almost impossible to live completely without stress. Fortunately, there are several techniques you can use to combat stress, but you must recognize the signs of stress. These are signs that you are more stressed than you may have thought.

You say yes too often

When we struggle with stress, we often lose sight of our personal boundaries. Do you often automatically say yes to certain requests? Then, according to coach Nikki Bruno, this indicates that you lack control over your life.

You are struggling with skin problems

Stress can cause a hormonal fluctuation. Do you think you don’t have a lot of stress, but are you suddenly experiencing more pimples? Then that tension could easily be the cause. “What we think and feel can play a role in how our skin looks. Your skin is, as it were, screaming at you to think about your stress levels,” dermatologist Keira Barr tells Brit UK.

You feel stressed in situations where you would normally be happy

Watch a movie with your friend, enjoy a delicious dinner or take a nice bath. These are moments that most people can enjoy intensely. On the other hand, do you still feel anxious during such moments? Then stress is probably to blame again. Psychotherapist Ginnifer Morley says that this restless feeling is a sign of too much stress. In this case, the stress had persisted for so long that it caused a more complex anxiety response.

You grit your teeth

You don’t even realize it at night, but if someone is sleeping next to you and they suddenly notice that you are grinding your teeth, something is often wrong. According to psychologist Melanie Chinchilla, grinding your teeth is a sign of stress, especially if it is something you don’t normally do. Tackling stress is easier said than done. In this case, make sure you wear a mouthguard to prevent wear and tear on the teeth.

You eat your feelings

Treating yourself to a bag of chips or other snacks every now and then is an absolute must. But eating to calm your feelings is not the right way to deal with stressful situations. However, dietitian Samantha Harmon often sees people eating to calm their emotions.

If you experience this – or are stressed in some other way – it is important to find out what causes the stress in order to determine what you can do about it. And yes, that is often easier said than done. Talk about it with others or seek the help of a professional.
