A nice question arrived in Josine’s mailbox. Princess Laurentien’s outfit was barely visible during the abdication. She quickly passed by in the livestream, but otherwise there were no photos. What did she actually wear during the abdication?
Wow, a somewhat difficult question. Because indeed, she was only in the picture for a very short time. At the time I searched hard for her dress and the ‘cloak’ that was worn over it. The coat has open bat sleeves. Unfortunately, the designer was never found.

I had to look back, but I also found this set twice on my own website The World of Royals, which I now hardly keep up with. Laurentien wore the beige dress with a yellow open coat on May 6, 2014 in Singapore. She was attending the Singapore Conservation Circle Event here in her capacity as president of the Fauna & Flora International.
Later we saw Laurentien also wearing these clothes in Colombia. She was there in her capacity as Special Envoy for Literacy for UNESCO. Princess Laurentien, together with President Santos, opened the Feria Internacional del Libro de Bogota, the international book fair in Bogota. Princess Laurentien also opened the Dutch Pavilion. This year the Netherlands is the host country of the international book fair. Maybe you also recognize Laurentien’s necklace. This comes from Fashion House Natan and has been worn by her several times. She also has a pink version of this necklace.
