Bye-bye bags! 6 tips to look fresh for the day

Good to know!

Whether you have been the party animal for a little too long, or as a career tiger you don’t have time to rest: bags under your eyes are never fun. Fortunately, there are a lot of simple tricks to prevent or reduce your eyebags. We have listed six of them for you!

Do’s and Don’ts

The internet is teeming with tips to combat those gray rings under your eyes, some of which are more useful than others. For example, a frequently heard tip is to use Sperti’s hemorrhoid ointment. However, experts advise against this.

For example, Doctor Frodo writes on his website that products such as hemorrhoid ointment and Vaseline are not intended as eye products and therefore entail significant risks. “It is better not to apply products that have not been developed for the thin skin around the eye. This way you prevent eczema and eye irritation,” says the cosmetic expert.

1. Get enough sleep

An open door, but no less important: make sure you get enough sleep and schedule enough rest for yourself. With a well-maintained sleep rhythm you help prevent bags under your eyes, and that is of course always better than cure. An extra bonus – when you get enough sleep you will also see this in your skin. And with a healthy, radiant face, your bags will immediately become less noticeable!

2. Eat away your bags

In addition to getting enough sleep, a healthy and balanced diet also helps prevent dark circles. For example, the mineral potassium helps to reduce bags under the eyes. Potassium is found in fruits (banana, plums, grapes, kiwi, melon) and vegetables (spinach, mushrooms, broccoli and beets).

3. Keep it cool

The idea of putting cucumber slices on your eyes may seem cliché, but there is quite a bit to it. Bags are partly made of fluid, and by cooling your eye bags a little you can prevent swelling. Additionally, the moisture in the cucumber helps to hydrate your skin. You can also choose to put a spoon in the refrigerator for a while and then hold the rounded side against your bags.

4. Potato

It may not give you the luxurious spa feeling you get with cucumber slices, but potato slices can still help a lot. Cut two slices from a potato and place them on your eyes for about fifteen minutes. Potatoes contain enzymes that can lighten the skin. Great to combine with a nice face mask and your favorite playlist for a nice self-care moment!

5. Tea bags

Do you always throw away your used tea bags immediately? Allow two tea bags to cool after use and then place them on your bags. Thanks to the caffeine in the tea, the skin is firmed, which reduces swelling under your eyes. So you must use tea bags that contain caffeine. Your favorite herbal tea is not sufficient for this.

6. Concealer

Do the above methods not work for you? Then you can always apply a little concealer to your bags. Choose a concealer with a pink undertone. This helps to neutralize the blue tint of your bags.

This way, even after a short night’s sleep, you will look fresh and fruity again!
