What William and Kate learned from Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip

A good example leads to good follow.

The late Queen Elizabeth’s dedication to her royal duties was unparalleled. She reigned for over seventy years – longer than any other monarch in British history – and was completely committed to it. It would have been a lonely position if it weren’t for one special thing that helped her through her life in the spotlight.

Special lesson

The 2016 documentary Our Queen at 90 looked back on the extraordinary life of the queen and the importance of her long marriage to Prince Philip. The then Duchess Kate, the wife of her grandson so beloved by Elizabeth, also spoke highly of it: “William and I are always so impressed by the Queen’s sense of duty and dedication and I think it is a very lonely place would have been to do that alone, but the support you receive from your husband, even behind closed doors, is very special.” A lesson that William and Kate will undoubtedly take with them in their future lives in the royal spotlight.

Support and support

In a marriage that lasted more than seventy years, Prince Philip was the Queen’s greatest supporter in public and, of course, the one who knew her best in private. An insider once told the BBC: “Prince Philip is the only man in the world who simply treats the Queen like another human being. He is the only man who can do that.”

Their grandson, Prince William, reflected on the special bond: “He makes her laugh because some of the things he says and does and the way he looks at life is clearly different from her, so together they make a great couple. ”

On their golden wedding anniversary in 1997, the Queen perfectly captured the essence of her relationship with Philip, a bond that stretched back to the 1930s when they were first introduced. “He has simply been my strength and support all these years, and I, and his entire family, along with this country and many others, owe him a debt greater than he could ever claim.”
