Actor Lucas Bravo is known as the handsome chef Gabriel from Emily In Paris. He is part of the intense love triangle Emily finds herself in, but the role was almost played by another actor.
Not cast at first
In an interview with People, Lucas Bravo talked about his many auditions for the hit Netflix series. He went through multiple auditions over the course of several months. The actor was initially not chosen for the role because the producers of the series felt that he did not have enough acting experience. Bravo traveled to the French island of Corsica after being rejected to deal with this. “I wanted to be in a place where there’s no service, and I could just talk to birds, so to speak,” he told People. Strangely enough, his trip ended abruptly after he had a very strange encounter with a hiker who asked to borrow his phone. The hiker used Bravo’s phone to call his daughter and said, “Your phone was vibrating left and right when I got service, so you should check it out.” The next morning, Bravo checked his phone and discovered that he had dozens of missed messages and calls from the casting director of Emily In Paris. After this, the actor traveled back to Paris to audition for the role again. The casting director asked Bravo where he was. His answer: “I was in the mountain with this shepherd making goat cheese.”
Still Gabriel
Lucas Bravo did end up playing Gabriel. The actor told People that this was because series creator Darren Star stood up to the studio and fought for him. “He thought I was the part from the beginning,” he explained. Emily In Paris first aired on Netflix in 2020. The show has since completed four seasons, with a fifth on the way. In addition to Bravo, Lily Collins plays Emily Cooper, Ashley Park plays Mindy Chen, and Camille Razat plays Camille deLalisse.
The Future of Emily In Paris
The series’ fourth season only recently hit Netflix, but the streaming service is already gearing up for more. Shortly after the release of the second half of season four, Netflix announced the fifth season. Lead actress Liliy Collins was seen in a teaser video saying, “There’s no place like Rome.” She then takes a sip of espresso from a mug with the number five on it. Details about the fifth season have yet to be announced, but with the season four cliffhanger, we know for sure that we’ll be seeing Lucas Bravo return to the role of Gabriel.
