This young princess is not often in the spotlight.
Of course we know that our own Amalia, the Princess of Orange, has her birthday in December. But today it is another Princess Amalia’s birthday. Who is this young princess anyway? We introduce you to her!
Luxembourg
We are talking about the Princess Amalia who was born in Luxembourg in 2014. Her full name is Her Royal Highness Princess Amalia Gabriela Maria Teresa of Nassau. The young royal, who can blow out ten candles today, is the eldest daughter of Prince Félix of Luxembourg and his wife, Princess Claire.

Simply delicious
Although our own Amalia is taking the stage more and more often, her Luxembourgish namesake is a lot less in the spotlight. She lives with her parents and brother in France, where the family has a vineyard. The company’s Instagram profile regularly gives followers a glimpse into the family’s fairytale life, and traditionally shares a nice photo of young Amalia for all her birthdays.
Although she carries a princely title, the young lady did not grow up in a palace. Instead, she enjoys the French life in an idyllic place in the south of the country. Moreover, the young Amalia is only fifth in line for the Luxembourg throne after uncle Guillaume, nephews Charles and François, and her father. And that means that she does not have to worry about a role as head of state, but can go her own way.

Amalias
Whether the younger Princess Amalia was named after the more than ten years older Princess Amalia? It must be said that the choice is surprising, because the royal name has not been used within the royal/grand ducal families for about 150 years. Who knows, maybe Willem-Alexander and Máxima managed to inspire their Luxembourgish colleagues by giving their eldest daughter this name. But that first name didn’t come completely out of nowhere. If you check the family trees of both (and related) families, you will come across a large number of Amalias dating back a few centuries.
Anyway, we obviously wish the princess a happy birthday. Heartily!
