Use a good nail polish
If you want nail polish to last well, a good product is a must. Did you know that this also has an expiration date? So take a look at that before you start painting your nails. When it is old it often does not lubricate well. If it is older than two years, throw it away. Or if it no longer lubricates properly. If you use a cheap product, it may not work as well as a slightly more expensive one. Now you don’t have to spend a fortune on nail polish. Prep your nails
It may sound strange, but the polish lasts longer and better on clean nails. You don’t need a special remedy for this, vinegar works great. Clean your nails with some vinegar and a cotton ball or cotton swab. This removes the bacteria and your paint stays in place better.
Base coat
After you have cleaned your nails, apply a base coat. This is one of the best ways to keep the paint beautiful for a long time. If you paint your nails often, you probably already knew that.
Thin or thick layers?
If you want your nail polish to last a long time, you may naturally apply a thick layer. But this does not actually ensure that your nail polish stays beautiful for a long time. Thin layers work better than one very thick layer. With a thick layer, the liquid adheres less well. This causes the nail polish to peel off faster.
The edge of your nails
You want to paint your nails just above your cuticle. This not only looks neat and beautiful, but it also makes it less likely to come off. So two birds with one stone.
Top coat
If you already knew the base coat, you probably know the top coat too. This is a transparent polish that you put on top of the colored polish. This protects the paint and gives it a nice shine. It is the best finishing touch to your nails.
Cold nail bath
When the polish has dried, it is a good idea to give your nails a cold bath. The cold water will stiffen your nail polish. This makes it last longer.
