This is everything you need to know about shampoo bars

There are endless products for your hair. Each product does something different for your hair. Did you know that shampoo also exists in a bar form? This is very different from the liquid variant we are used to. What is it and how does it work? We will explain it to you.

What is it?

A shampoo bar is the solid version of liquid shampoo. Shampoo is made liquid by adding water. Your shampoo largely consists of water. This is not the case with a shampoo bar. All the ingredients you need are compactly contained in the shampoo bar. You get the water from the shower itself! Super nice for when traveling. You don’t have to pay attention to the sizes of your shampoo. A shampoo bar passes through customs without any worries.

Besides being more compact, it is also better for nature. Producing liquid shampoo takes a lot of water. Liquid shampoo also needs more time when rinsing to completely disappear from your head and hair. A bar is gone much faster. Also, most shampoo bars come in cardboard packaging. These are much easier to recycle. Unfortunately, the bottles containing liquid shampoo often end up in our oceans.

Furthermore, you can use a shampoo bar for much longer than the liquid variant. One bar is the same as two to three bottles of shampoo. This means that the (perhaps) higher price is suddenly worth more. If you compare the price of one bar with three bottles of shampoo, it is a lot more attractive. This means that you make fewer trips to the store, the shelves become empty less quickly and therefore fewer trucks or ships travel. Finally, it also means that you use even less packaging in the long term.

How do you use shampoo bars?

There are suitable shampoo bars for every hair type. They not only pay attention to hair types such as curly or straight, but also to the thickness of your hair and the ‘problems’ you are experiencing. For example, do you suffer from frizzy hair? Don’t worry, there are shampoo bars to solve this. You don’t have to have any problems, by the way. There are also options for balanced hair.

Using shampoo bars sounds more difficult and intimidating than it is. Wet your hair and your bar and go back and forth with the bar from roots to ends. Do this about four to five times for best results. Hopefully you will notice that your hair starts to foam nicely. Massage the remaining product thoroughly into your hair and scalp. Massaged well enough? Then it’s time to rinse your hair. For some people it is better to wash your hair twice, but experiment with that.

There is a good reason for applying the shampoo bar directly to the head. With liquid shampoo we are used to first putting it on our hands and then massaging it in. This works differently with a shampoo bar. If you put the bar on your hands first and then put it on your head, you will lose important ingredients on your hands. The oils contain these substances. It’s more like washing your hands than your hair.

Conditioner

In addition to shampoo, more products come in bar form. There is also conditioner. Applying a conditioner bar works the same as shampoo. The only difference is that you leave the conditioner on a little longer. This gives your hair extra hydration. You will really see this in the result. Based on your wishes and your hair type, you will find the perfect combination of shampoo and conditioner.
