Jaimie Vaes really lives Ibiza life to the fullest, especially when summer is at its peak. But sometimes all that partying and socializing can take quite a toll on you. In her column for Grazia, Jaimie Vaes explains how she wants to adjust her lifestyle to better manage her energy. And that sounds like a good plan, right?
Jaimie Vaes in Ibiza
Jaimie grew up in Scheveningen, so she knows everything about beach life. No wonder she is completely in love with summer! For this reason she moved to Ibiza. On the island you can really experience that summer feeling for months on end. “The energy on the island makes me very happy,” Jaimie writes. “Everyone there seems to have that sense of freedom, whether you’re on vacation or just living there.”
Too much freedom can be dangerous
Although Jaimie describes that all that freedom can sometimes be quite difficult. She finds it difficult to guard her boundaries. “And I’m not just talking about going out to clubs, but also about being lived by people who come on holiday,” she explains. Those holidaymakers often spend a lot of money, which is nice in itself, but for Jaimie it feels like she is living everyone’s holiday all summer long.
Exhausted after a summer full of parties
“Before you know it, it will be October,” says Jaimie. “And I have put my own life on hold for months and I am exhausted. It is as if I have to put on an oxygen machine after all those parties and social obligations.”
This year things are different
But Jaimie Vaes has a plan! This year she wants to manage her energy better and not get sucked into all that summer festivities. “I want to save my energy and bring more discipline into my life,” she writes. She knows it will be a challenge, because she obviously loves the good life. “The plan already seems difficult to implement,” she admits.
A schedule for balance and energy
But she goes for it! Jaimie has created a schedule in which she schedules time for healthy routines. She wants to exercise more and incorporate moments of rest. In this way, she hopes to create more discipline and prioritize the things that really give her energy. “I am determined to tackle this summer differently. More balance, more energy, more time for myself. It will be a challenge, but I am going for it!”
