Former Temptation Island participant Merijn Murk, now known as a DJ and tattoo artist, had to say goodbye to his father this week. On Instagram today, Merijn shares a moving tribute in memory of his father.
‘Goodbye my dear Indo dad’
In the moving photo we see Merijn’s father lying in the hospital bed, while Merijn holds his hand tightly. Merijn shares a loving message with this sad image. “A day that you know is coming, but you always postpone in your head. A day that you don’t want to experience. A day that should have turned out differently and not this way. 30 /03 a major heart attack & 02/04 Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 PM I was told in the family room that you could no longer be saved and that the cables were being removed. You held on until early in the night and I felt and saw your last breath on Wednesday, April 3, 00:50. Goodbye to my dear, busy, partying, crazy, very difficult Indo dad.”
No contact
It can be deduced from the text that Merijn had a complicated bond with his father. “Our life together was not easy. We had many high peaks and deep valleys. Two rams and many similarities in characters often made it difficult to get along with each other. We were very similar and that was the difficult part,” writes Merijn. “We had no contact in recent years and lost sight of each other due to various arguments. We both hesitated to take the step year in and year out to speak to each other again, but unfortunately this did not happen. We were both afraid for rejection. We are proud Indos with sometimes too big an ego. Why couldn’t we put this aside and try again together..”

Merry in Temptation Island
In 2017, Merijn took part in Temptation Island with his then girlfriend Lisa. During the program he thought that his girlfriend was crossing his boundaries too much. He himself felt a connection with the Belgian seductress Pommeline. After the program, Merijn and Pommeline started a relationship. Later they decided to participate again in the VIP version of Temptation Island, in which they met Fabrizio from Belgium. Pommeline fell in love with him, but their relationship is now over.
