The best book tips from the editors!
Whether we enjoy the summer in the backyard, on the beach or in the park, one thing is for sure: the Glamial editors and their colleagues don’t leave home without a good book! From thriller to fantasy – with this reading material you will get through the summer!
Sandra – Eve Dallas by JD Robb
Sandra, editor-in-chief of Glamial and Nouveau: “I am a fan of the Eve Dallas series by JD Robb. Every year, two new titles are added. I have devoured 28 of them by now and Eve still doesn’t bore me. The stories are a mix of thriller and bouquet. Eve is a homicide detective in New York and solves the most gruesome murders. She is helped in this by her husband, the gorgeous and filthy rich Roarke.”
The Eve Dallas series is published in Dutch translation by Uitgeverij Boekerij. The 29th and 30th part in the series will be published at the end of this year.
Sandy – A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Sandy, Glamial’s online editor: “This summer I finally gave in to the hype surrounding Sarah J. Maas’ books and started A Court of Thorns and Roses. And I have to say – I get the hype. This is a delightful, gripping romance! The story revolves around poor Feyre Archeron, who becomes entangled in the world of the ‘fae’ against her will. Love, lust and political intrigue come together here, with a nice fantasy edge. I finished the first book in the series in two days and the second book, A Court of Mist and Fury, is just as easy to read. Is this high-quality literature of the highest order? No. But it doesn’t have to be.”
The five volumes of A Court of Thorns and Roses are published in their original language by Bloomsbury, and Van Goor Uitgeverij is responsible for the Dutch translations.
Fabiën – Good Material by Dolly Alderton
Fabiën, online editor at Nouveau: “When I saw that Dolly Alderton had released yet another new book, I immediately ran to the nearest bookstore… And with success, because Good Material did not disappoint me. Although her previous books were written from a female perspective, in this book you get to know a man. And a man who has just become single and is going through the various stages of a heartbreak. There are many funny bits of male suffering in it and it was precisely those bits that made the book nice and light for me. Perfect summer book I think!”
Good Material is published by Fig Tree, part of the well-known publisher Penguin Books.
Inge – Undercurrent by Linda Jansma
Inge, producer Nouveau: “My tip is Onderstroom, by Linda Jansma. Hester’s life is turned upside down when her daughter Insa is murdered. Hester’s life is completely destroyed, her marriage ends and her oh so successful sailing school gets into financial trouble. After two years, Hester thinks she has everything back on track, but is that true? When another girl is murdered, everything comes flooding back. Very beautifully and excitingly written with a surprising ending.”
Undercurrent is published by De Crime Compagnie.
Marique – Listen by Sacha Bronwasser
Marique, editor-in-chief of Glamial, Elegance and Happy in Shape: “In Luister by Sacha Bronwasser, the Dutch Marie describes her life as an au pair with a wealthy family in Paris and the shocking events that preceded her flight to France. Various timelines (including the terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015) are intertwined, but it remains clear and exciting. One of the reviews calls the book Emily in Paris noir. And that is exactly what it is! I read it breathlessly.”
Publisher Ambo Anthos is responsible for the publication of Sacha’s books.
However you read…
Extra nice is that almost all of these books are available as a physical book, as an e-book and as an audiobook. Whether you prefer a beautiful hardcover for on the bookshelf or just want to relax under the parasol with a good audiobook in your ears – the possibilities are almost endless.
Enjoy reading!
