The TV program Over My Corpse is already starting its tenth season and we understand that. For years, the makers have been presenting us with a beautiful and honest program, which often leaves viewers in tears. If you’d like to see it, we have good news. It will be back from January 9, 2024! Tim Hofman is now following five young people who are terminally ill, but are trying to make the best of their lives.
New season Over My Corpse
In the TV world, programs come and go, but Over Mijn Lijk has held on for seasons. In 2020 it was also rewarded with the Golden Televizier Ring. Viewers really enjoy watching the TV programme. Fortunately for them, season 10 will start on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in which presenter Tim Hofman again follows five young people who are terminally ill. They all have one thing in common: they try to make the best of their lives. This creates a lot of emotional moments every season, which also keeps viewers entertained. In addition, the makers have of course often said goodbye to various people from the TV program.
The new season also seems to be emotional again. We see struggles and fears in the main characters, but fortunately also beautiful moments in their lives. We also see the wedding of Eva, among others, who marries her great love Matthijs. “Dear darling, our future together is uncertain,” we hear Matthijs speechify. “But I know one thing for sure: I want to marry you, because you are the most beautiful person on earth. I love you.” Awww! Where are the tissues?

Which people are being followed?
Eva
First of all, Tim follows 23-year-old Eva, who studies Communications and lives with her boyfriend Matthijs. In 2021 she is told that she has lung cancer and is not getting better. In the meantime, she is very happy with Matthijs, whom she would also like to marry. That will happen as quickly as possible and it will be a true fairytale! “There are also good aspects to being ill,” Eva says in the BNNVARA proposal blog. “You develop a different perspective. I am much happier with small things, such as nice weather or nice people I am with.” Every disadvantage has its advantage…
Zoe
The second main character is 27-year-old Zoë, who works in healthcare and is following the HBO study in Social Pedagogical Assistance. In 2019 she heard that she was terminally ill: she had bone cancer. Zoë gets a lot of support from her belief in reincarnation. “I’m even in a bit of a hurry to die,” she says. “I’m done with this body and this disease. I want to move on to my new life.”
Jeffrey
The third main character, 35-year-old Jeffrey, is also not afraid of death. He does have difficulty with the fact that he always asks himself: when will it happen? And he has been asking himself this question since January 2021, when he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He was told at the time that it was metastatic colon cancer. Fortunately, he has enough distractions in his life thanks to his family, consisting of his beloved Trudy and their two children: Merel and Max. In daily life, Jeffrey runs his own plumbing and installation company. He then spends his ‘spare time’ on the football field, where he coaches several teams.
Yegor
Then we have 31-year-old Jegor, who has a malignant tumor in his brain. Due to his incurable disease, he sometimes experiences panic and anxiety attacks, but fortunately he has a lot of support from his lover Daisy. In fact, their relationship is going so well that they are trying to get pregnant. In the meantime, Jegor is enjoying life immensely and teaching himself new things. He also takes singing lessons. “I just want to live, have children, work, travel,” he says. “Sometimes I’m so angry with that cancer. Then all my frustration comes in.”
Maaike
The last main character is 32-year-old Maaike. In 2014, she discovered a birthmark on her mound, which turned out to be a melanoma. That is a form of skin cancer. The melanoma and her lymph nodes are removed and she is immediately checked for metastases. This results in a positive outcome: nothing is wrong. Unfortunately, the cancer returned a few years later. The cancer has spread to her lungs and other organs. She is diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma cancer. Despite this serious diagnosis, she also tries to make the best of her life, together with her husband Hendrik and their twins Mare and Nils. “I can keep thinking that everything is not going well, but it doesn’t get me anywhere,” she says. “It just makes you sad. You can still do so many fun things in life.”
