The moments when Kate walked straight out of a Disney fairy tale.
Living in a palace and having everything in your wardrobe that your (fashion) heart desires: being a princess has its advantages. Yet a princess dress looks a bit different in practice than in most fairy tales. Although there are also occasions when Princess Kate appeared as a real Disney princess.
Majestic Maternity

Royal allure meets maternity wear. Princess Kate, here pregnant with Prince Louis, wears an Alexander McQueen gown during a state dinner in Oslo. (By her side: Norwegian King Harald). Glitter, cape, airy skirt – it is and remains a picture!
Princess in pink

During the 100 Women in Finance Gala (2018), the then Duchess of Cambridge wore a pink Gucci dress that would make many Disney princesses jealous. And us too, of course.
Sequins 1

June 2011: Kate is a new royal, just married to her prince charming, and wears this beautiful Jenny Packham dress during an ARK charity event like a real princess. The gown is studded with a generous dose of sequins and Swarovski crystals.

Ten years later, in 2021, Jenny Packham once again dressed the princess in sequins for the premiere of No Time To Die – making Kate the perfect combination of fairytale princess and Bond girl.
Enchanting blue

Royal blue is of course a very royal choice. The Princess of Wales chose this beautiful creation during the Gala Bollywood Dinner in Mumbai, India in 2016. Once again Jenny Packham’s dress, together with McQueen, is the purveyor to the throne when it comes to fairytale dresses. Enchanting!
Let it go glow

Princess Elsa, is that you? The annual Royal Variety Performance always produces beautiful fashion pictures, including in 2017. Kate’s light blue dress gets an extra dimension due to the overlay with sparkling diamonds. Is your highness here looking for a role in Frozen 3?
Costume drama Kate

Maybe not 100 percent a princess dress, but Duchess Kate looks straight out of a costume drama in this outfit. However, we are not dealing here with Downton Abbey, Bridgerton or the latest Jane Austen film adaptation, but with the Royal Ascot: the horse races that are accompanied by a strict dress code for women and men. Princess Kate chose this light blue dress from Elie Saab in 2019. Some think it’s terrible, others think it’s one of the most beautiful summer dresses in the royal wardrobe, but it’s princess-like anyway.
Tiara time

Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without a tiara look, and we can definitely call Kate queen of the ball here. At the 2019 United States State Banquet, the Princess of Wales wore a Snow Queen-worthy white gown from Alexander McQueen (there it is again!) and the Lover’s Knot tiara. Isn’t that how you imagine what it’s like to be a princess?
Cinderella
During a reception in 2022, hosted by the Governor General of the Bahamas, Kate appeared as a real Cinderella. She wore a light blue satin dress from the Phillipa Lepley brand with a pearl necklace and matching earrings from the Van Cleef and Arpels brand. Wow! Walked straight out of a fairy tale, nun?
