Since he entered rehab, it has been quiet around presenter Rick Brandsteder (39). Apparently that was already an omen. The presenter now tells Shownieuws that he is quitting his television career. After seventeen years, with Expedition Robinson and Temptation Island on his CV, he has “closed the TV chapter”.
Rick Brandsteder quits his television career
The news may come somewhat unexpectedly, but 39-year-old Rick Brandsteder – son of former presenter Ron Brandsteder – has been in the television industry for seventeen years. In 2005, he started the youth program Kinderrecords at SBS6. He has presented a number of TV programs at this channel, although the ball only really started rolling at RTL. People will mainly recognize Rick from programs such as Who is the Chef?, The Bachelor and Bachelorette, Temptation Island and of course Expedition Robinson.
Rick’s CV is quite long, but nothing more will be added to it now. He informed Shownieuws that he is quitting his television career. Wait, what? You probably remember that he went to rehab last year for his alcohol addiction. He has now completed that process and he is doing well again. “I feel good about myself,” he says. “But after seventeen years I have closed the TV chapter.”
“Chapter closed”
After seventeen years, Rick thinks he’s had enough in the TV world. It also gives him a “nice feeling” to end the TV chapter. “I’ve been thinking about this for a while,” he explains. “And after my period in the clinic in South Africa and the recording of Het Perfecte Plaatje, I received complete confirmation that it had been beautiful for me.” Alright. He can look back on a wonderful career, he says. He certainly had an enjoyable time in the TV world. “I met nice people and visited beautiful places, so I look back on it with a big smile,” he says. “But now it’s time for new adventures that give me a lot of energy.”
Living in Spain?
And it seems as if Rick’s new adventures partly take place in Spain. He is there regularly, according to Privé editor-in-chief Evert Santegoeds. “He actually lives in Spain. He sits there all the time, in the family house,” Evert says in the late broadcast of Shownieuws on Monday. He doesn’t want to say anything about exactly what new adventures he will experience. But we’ll probably find out someday!
