Comeback!
Radio DJ Edwin Evers stopped his morning show Evers Staat Op in 2018 after 21 years. He announced this himself at the time in an emotional manner. Although he was not heard on air for a long time, there was no complete radio silence. Last year, for example, he created the popular podcast Through the Eyes of the King, with none other than Willem-Alexander. Now, after five years without a regular program, he will soon be heard again on Radio 538 with his own show!
Radio veteran
The radio maker was heard on Dutch radio for no less than 21 years. He presented the daily morning show Evert stands op on Radio 538. He stopped doing this in 2018 and Evers has not had his own program since. That will change soon!
From February 2, Edwin will present the Evers & Co program on Fridays, together with Cobus Bosscha and newsreader Henk Blok. His show will be available from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Morning show
The radio DJ was recently seen in Casa Di Beau, where he already talked a bit about a possible return. “I can see it happening again,” he said. “I don’t think there will be such an obligation again five days a week. I still like radio, I always have. But I just wanted a different life. I didn’t want to follow that pattern every day anymore.”
By that he meant getting up early for the morning show. Getting up early was sometimes difficult, because he often went to bed early. That affected his love life. “You have someone in your house who goes to bed early every day,” he explained. “That is of course very unpleasant. I also notice that it makes you a bit selfish. When I was free, to an extreme extent I didn’t want anything anymore. Just do what I feel like doing. And that doesn’t work in a relationship, because then you always have to do something. That takes effort.”
When his show ended in 2018, Evers did not completely disappear from the radio. He could occasionally be heard on various channels and presented a podcast with King Willem-Alexander – which became such a huge success that a book will soon be published.
