Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise is angry because the exact location of her upcoming wedding has been made public, according to a letter from her manager. Now, Märtha Louise is not a fan of the press anyway, but for her big day she is extra concerned about safety and privacy.
It is one of the most talked about royal events of the year: the wedding between Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise and her shaman Durek Verett. Although the two try to keep their special day as much as possible out of the media, the location of the party has been leaked. And the princess is not happy about that, to say the least.
Wedding venue leaked
In early August, several Norwegian media reported that the wedding of the eccentric couple would take place in the tourist village of Geiranger, specifically at the location Vinjevollen. How did they get that information? The police published a document in which the Norwegian broadcasters TV 2 and NRK were given permission to record the wedding with a drone, but in that same document they also mentioned the exact location of the event. Not really handy, of course.
The princess’s spokeswoman responded to the news with indignation on her behalf. To our great surprise, and I am including not only us as organizers but also the communication department and the security department of the castle, it is the police that leaks this information to the press.” She also states that it was absolutely the intention that the exact location would remain secret. “This obviously has consequences for us. The part of the press that we are not so enthusiastic about will now have a long time to plan where they can stand to take the best possible photos and everything that goes with it.”
In the meantime, the police have also responded to the incident. “We are aware that it was desirable from the organizer’s side that the wedding location would not be made public until closer to the wedding date,” they say. “We regret that this became known in the media without us being able to inform the organizer in advance.”
Wedding of Märtha Louise and Durek Verett
Earlier it was announced that Hello! Magazine has been given exclusive rights to report on the wedding festivities. And, as we have come to expect from the princess and her partner, the big day will not look ordinary. Or should we say: big ‘days’, because the grand festivities will take no less than four days.
The wedding begins with a Meet and Greet party in the garden of a hotel in the middle of the bustling city center of Ålesund. Here, the guests can get to know each other in a relaxed way and get into the party mood. Afterwards, Märtha Louise and Durek take their guests on a three-hour boat trip in the Geirangerfjord, which takes them to the location where the ceremony and church service will take place the following day. A striking detail: the church service will reportedly be led by both a pastor and a spiritual guru.
It is not known who exactly is on the guest list. However, there are rumors that none other than Stevie Wonder and the Black Eyed Peas will perform at the wedding party.
The Princess and the Shaman
If there is one Euroyal who chooses her own path, it is Märtha Louise. The older sister of Crown Prince Haakon has been in a relationship with her Durek, a self-proclaimed ‘urban shaman’, since 2019. An unusual life partner for a princess, because the spiritual guru also has a fair share of scandals. Think of fraud, cult-like practices and illegal parties for which he even ended up in jail for a year. Not the ideal son-in-law, then.
Still, Märtha Louise is madly in love with the shaman, whom she once called her spiritual ‘twin flame’. On August 31st, the time has finally come, and the two will tie the knot. And, we are secretly very curious about the guest list and the table arrangement, because how well will shamans and medicine men get along with princes and princesses?
