“Now you’ve really gotten yourself into trouble!” Zara warns.
As a member of the Windsor family by marriage, when you open your mouth in interviews, you better watch what you say. Before you know it, all kinds of secrets that the royals would have preferred to keep behind palace doors are spilling out. Mike Tindall, Princess Anne’s son-in-law and husband of Zara Tindall, can talk about it.
Interviews
In general, Mike Tindall knows how to combine his role as a media man with his position as the husband of King Charles’ niece. Last year we saw how he managed to get rid of difficult comments about Prince Harry with a good dose of humor. And if he ever reveals too much, it’s mainly his own blunders – like the time he tore off his pants in front of his mother-in-law.
But in conversation with rugby legend Rob Burrow, Mike perhaps sheds a bit too much of the veil.
Nickname
For example, he was a guest with his wife Zara in the podcast Seven: Rob Burrow. In this podcast, various top athletes are put to the test with seven questions. This time it was the turn of Mike, a former rugby star, and Zara, an Olympic rider. Of course, that immediately boded well!
But things really get interesting when Mike accidentally reveals his particularly daring nickname for Prince William. For example, the Crown Prince would be known as ‘One-Pint Willy’, as he is not a big drinker. Mike seems to be shocked by his own revelation, and immediately follows up with a heartfelt ‘Sorry, Sir’.
Zara also reacts in disbelief, stating: “Now you’ve really gotten yourself into trouble!” Oops!
Christmas dinner
We’re betting that Mike will still get his thunder from William, as the two will of course spend the next few days together with the royals for their traditional Christmas celebration at Sandringham. Who knows, Mike and William can talk it out together while enjoying a (single) beer.
