Everyone experiences a slump now and then. As long as this remains a dip and does not last too long, you have nothing to worry about. Still, it’s not nice to feel this way. In this article we share 6 little things that will make you feel a lot better: sometimes the solution to a mental dip is closer than you expect. Phew!
Get yourself ready for the day
On days when you have nothing planned, it is understandable that you do not get yourself completely ready, as you would have done when you go to work, for example. Still, it is a tip to prepare yourself. Brush your teeth, do your makeup and put on nice clothes. This way you immediately feel a lot more awake and better than if you walk around in your pajamas all day.
Start cooking or baking
Do you know the saying: ‘love goes through the stomach’? So cook or bake for yourself. Choose your favorite recipe, get all the ingredients and get started! Not only do you now shift your attention to cooking or baking, you also get out of the house to get the ingredients: that’s a win-win! And it is also very tasty.
Open the window regularly
It is very important that you regularly open the window for fresh air and ventilation. Not only is there a good chance that you will sleep better, it also prevents mold and dust mites in your house and/or bedroom. If you do not ventilate your home properly, there is a good chance that you will suffer from headaches, allergies, skin complaints and sleeping problems. And of course you don’t want that…
Get moving!
There is a good chance that you have seen this tip many times before. Still, that might be a sign that it will definitely help against your dip, don’t you think? There are many different ways to exercise, such as running or doing a dance workout. Would you rather take it a little easier? Then go for a walk or take a yoga class.
Express your feelings on paper
Sometimes your head is simply too full. So try writing down your thoughts. Why do you feel this way? Did something unpleasant happen? Do you feel guilty about something? Describe how you feel and maybe afterwards you’ll think: ‘It’s actually not that bad’. Then you go back to it with an ’empty’ head!
Call a loved one
Call a loved one for distraction or to put your problems into perspective. Think of a friend or, for example, one of your parents. Besides the fact that it is always nice to talk to a loved one, it may also help to discuss your problems with them. Sometimes you see your own problems as worse than they actually are, but the people around you may help you put this into perspective.
You are not alone!
Are you not feeling well or are you perhaps suffering from the winter blues? Know that you are not alone. There are always people around you who want to help you. Whether it is your friends, family members or healthcare professionals: you are not alone. So talk about it. And hopefully the above tips will help you in the right direction!
