Hate your job? Post about it online, it helps

Do you ever have days when you really don’t feel like going to work? Many people recognize this sentiment. Sometimes complaining about your work can be very nice. This is even a trend on TikTok at the moment! This is what you need to know about it.

Anti-corporate influencers hate their jobs

Nowadays, it’s not crazy to post about every aspect of our lives on social media. We post about our friends, hobbies, family, and even our work. But what if you don’t like your job at all? There are even specific influencers for that now! Anti-corporate influencers post specific content about hating their office job. Not wanting to work is a very normal feeling that we all have at times and 24-year-old Josh Rosen from New York shares this feeling. He regularly posts about his negative feelings about his job just to get it out.

Ciara also posts about her hatred for her nine to five. She has since quit her office job, but when she was still at the company she was very vocal about her negative feelings towards her work. In 2023 she quit. She now owns a graphic design company that makes stickers about ‘corporate slander’.

Even complaining online helps

Hating your job is of course nothing new. There are plenty of people who have a job that makes them anything but happy. Complaining about it on the internet can be a solution. It gives you the opportunity to rant about everything that is bothering you. On TikTok, you will then (hopefully) get a good dose of validation and support from people in similar situations. However, it is not always the solution. Finding yourself in a toxic work environment is a problem that you can only solve by leaving. But until you are ready to do that, complaining on the internet is certainly not a bad idea. Just be careful that you do not get into trouble with your employer!

The Gen Z mindset

Previous generations have complained about their jobs, but Gen Z is the first to do so publicly on the internet. Gen Z posts about almost everything and is not always aware of their digital footprint. But Gen Z has now reached the age to really start working. Many people from this generation will soon graduate or have already finished their studies. This, combined with the stress of working life, makes this trend so successful on TikTok. It seems that we have reached an era where we no longer shield our social media from potential employers. Gen Z is doing things differently!
