The American facility is permanently off the market.
Princess Madeleine and her husband Chris O’Neill have finally sold their home in the United States. The couple sold the villa for the equivalent of 6.5 million euros.
United States
Although Madeleine has never made a secret of the fact that her departure to the United States was temporary, she did live there for quite a long time. An important period for the princess, during which she built a family with her great love, banker Chris O’Neill.
Plan
However, if we are to believe the countless messages on Madeleine’s social media, the idea of returning to her beloved home country has always tickled her fancy. At the beginning of March last year, the decision finally came to the Swedish church: Madeleine and her family would move to Sweden permanently. All plans had already been made: the family would move into their apartment near the Royal Stables in Stockholm, and kids Leonore, Nicolas and Adrienne would start at their new school after the last summer holidays.
Postponed
Just as the Swedes were preparing for the return of the ‘unpopular’ princess, a spokesperson for the Swedish Kungahuset released a surprising message at the end of June: the move was postponed until 2024. Although Margareta Thorgren, the Chief Information Manager of the Swedish court , could not share many details, but she was able to contradict some rumors about the decision: “The reason has nothing to do with immigration issues nor the sale of the house or anything like that. It’s simply that the family, with all the things that come with a move, is running out of time.”
Ironically, it now seems that the sale of Madeleine and her Chris’s house has taken some effort. Where the villa was previously asked for 7.65 million dollars, the property was sold in November for a modest 7.3 million dollars. It seems that after years of living in the United States, Princess Madeleine was now in a real hurry to return to her homeland. The cottage was ultimately sold for a paltry 7 million, which amounts to about 6.5 million euros.
The princess therefore misses out on a profit, as she had the house renovated for no less than 2.6 million dollars in 2020. But hey: if you’re Princess of Sweden and you want to return to your home country, that shouldn’t matter much, nun?
