Everything you want to know about a lip flip

Ever heard of the lip flip? This is a treatment that subtly gives you full lips. But how exactly does this treatment work and is it different from lip fillers? We will tell you how the procedure works. Find out if lip flip is for you.

What is a lip flip?

The first important question is of course, what is a lip flip? When we think of full lips we often think of fillers, but with a lip flip it goes just a bit further. We then use botox. This drug ensures that the stimulus transmission between the muscle and nerves is, as it were, stopped. This would cause your upper lip to pull in less. You can make different types of movements with your oral sphincter. As soon as the muscle becomes overactive, it may pull inward more. By injecting a small amount of Botox you ensure that this movement decreases. This makes your lip more visible. When does a lip flip work best? For people who have an overactive mouth muscle. So if you want to have a lip flip, always get good advice from your doctor.

Lip flip vs lip fillers

People sometimes confuse botox and fillers. Actually, they are very different types of products. Botox silences the muscle, while fillers fill up an area. So if you really want fuller lips, go for fillers. A lip flip can make your lips look bigger, but it won’t give you extra volume.

Procedure

How exactly does the procedure work? In the beginning you always discuss the reason why your lip bothers you. They will then study your face. Mainly your smile and lips. Once everything has been mapped out, a plan is made. Can you manage with Botox alone or does more need to be done? Once the doctor decides that you can have a lip flip, it is time to sit in the chair. First clean the skin thoroughly and then a few injections are made. They do this above the edge of the upper lip. This is done without anesthesia. The lip may be sensitive, but these few pricks are done in no time.

When does a lip flip work?

This varies greatly from person to person. Generally it starts working after three or four days. You will only have the full effect after two weeks. If it doesn’t produce results yet, you may need to add a little more. It’s better to start with less and add more later. Once it’s in, it’s in. For most people, a lip flip works for about two to three months. You can inject more Botox, but then you run the risk of removing too much movement from the lip. This is of course not the intention. Therefore, always get good advice!
