If you grew up in the late 90’s or the early aughts, you probably remember the original K3. At the time, the popular music group consisted of Karen, Kristel and Kathleen. Even though they have been stopped for years, they will always remain a K3 for this generation. And they know this well, because reunions between former members regularly take place. Kathleen and Kristel recently had a spontaneous reunion in Antwerp. OMG!
Spontaneous reunion of Kathleen and Kristel from original K3
In the late 1990s, music group K3 was founded by manager Niels William, who placed them at Sony BMG at the time. However, they do not stay there for long, because in 2002 K3 officially moves to Studio 100: Gert Verhulst’s entertainment company. At that time, K3 still consisted of three singers with a K as an initial: Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke and Kathleen Aerts. This now iconic music trio went on to enjoy a ton of success, creating albums, films, a ton of merchandise and even theater shows. All thanks to their first big hit Heyah Mama. A song that we are quite surprised about nowadays, because: why did we sing along to these filthy lyrics loudly as a child of 6? Anywho, thanks to Karen, Kristel and Kathleen, a phenomenal music trio is created, which is still popular with children today. Only with the younger singers Hanne, Marthe and Julia.
In the meantime, former members of K3 are enjoying their well-deserved rest. Although they are of course still in touch with each other, as we recently saw on Instagram. Previously, Karen has a reunion with Kathleen in South Africa, where she currently lives. Then they have another reunion later. Then Kathleen suddenly participates in The Masked Singer in Belgium, where Karen is one of the panel members. Aww! And now it’s Kathleen and Kristel, who have a spontaneous reunion in Antwerp. OMG?

Girlfriends forever
Both singers post a cheerful photo of the two in Antwerp on their Instagram. “Look who I unexpectedly met yesterday in Antwerp…” Kathleen writes under the photo, followed by hashtags such as #friendsforever and #alsvanouds. Kristel’s caption reads: “A day in Antwerp and then suddenly I meet my Leentje!” Kathleen then responds with iconic lyrics from one of the most famous K3 songs: “And we dance through the streets… Nice and exuberant.” Ha! What cuties. Followers of both Kathleen and Kristel are of course completely crazy. The heart eyes and positive reactions are flying around your ears in the comments.
