Unfortunately, this tragic prognosis came true. At the beginning of the week, sad news overshadowed the sports world: Franz Beckenbauer (✝78) died on Sunday surrounded by his family. The football legend had been struggling with health problems and several strokes of fate for several years. Now it turns out: Franz apparently had the feeling for a long time that the last years of his life would not be easy.
His manager now reveals this Marcus Höfl in the ARD documentary “Beckenbauer – Legend of German Football”. He remembers a decisive moment between 2010 and 2011. “We were eating on the plane and he said to me that he was always a fan of long-term, detailed horoscopes,” says Marcus. In the further course I have Franz then expressed his premonition: “You, we have ten very difficult years ahead of us. It will be very difficult for me – financially, but also in terms of health.”
And unfortunately the 78-year-old turned out to be right. In 2015 he had to cope with what was probably his hardest loss: his son Stephen (✝46) died as a result of a brain tumor. Since then it has been fine Franz health-related decline. He suffered an eye attack and became completely blind in his right eye. In addition, the former national player suffered from Parkinson’s disease and had to undergo several heart operations.
